What makes Japan, so unique and different from the rest of the world and why are the Japanese people known for their strong health, intelligence, wellness and politeness? Is it because they have an amazing education system? Well, we think so!
Here are 10 Crucial Features of the Japanese education system that makes it one of the best (if not the best) in the world:
1. Manners before knowledge.
In Japan students don`t take any exams until they reach grade four (age 10) because they strongly believe establishing good manners and character is more important than judging the child’s knowledge. All children are taught to respect people, animals and nature, to be generous, empathetic and compassionate.
2. The academic year starts on April 1st.
As we know the rest of the world starts the academic year in September/October ,but in Japan it starts in April 1. This date often coincides with the time of cherry blossom, one of the most beautiful natural phenomena . Japanese students get 6 weeks off during summer and two week breaks, one in winter and spring.
