In this time and age doctor visits are getting shorter and it`s very easy to get lost in your everyday “to do list”. That`s why Dr. Alyssa Dweck, MD has some great tips that will help you live a longer and happier life:
1. Zap Your Stress
We think we can juggle it all and that usually means we have too much on our plates. This leads to only one thing – STRESS! Stress is a very serious health hazard that brings tons of health consequences like depression, anxiety, infertility and heart disease. Search for an effective stress-reduction method, whatever works for you and stick with it.
2. Stop Dieting
The key is moderation so it’s OK to have a glass of your favorite wine or a piece of cake. Make sure you get a nice daily mix of lean proteins, smart carbs, healthy fats and fiber.
3. Don`t “OD” on Calcium
Too much calcium can be a serious threat to your heart and increase the risk of kidney stones. 1000 milligrams per day is enough if you`re under 50 and 1.2000 milligrams per day if you are over 50. The best way to get them into your system is through consuming calcium rich food like almonds or salmon.
4. Do More Cardio
Women need to work out at least three to five times a week and do a mix of cardio and weight-bearing exercise. Exercising can also boost your mental health.
5. Thinks About Fertility
Although many women don`t have a problem getting pregnant after their 30s and even 40s, it’s important to talk to your doctor about options. Fertility starts to decline after the age of 32 so you may want to consider freezing your eggs.
