We are living in a different era, an era of technology that questions our traditional way of learning and the whole system in general. I`m sure all of you will agree that most of us were “forced” to take a subject just because the curriculum has sad so.
Today, Finland has decided to make some radical changes by introducing a new system, something more suitable for the modern era we live in.
In three years time, this country plans to get rid of many classic subjects like math, literature, history, physics and geography and replace them with something called Phenomenon based learning.
What is Phenomenal Education? (Taken from their official website)
“Phenomenon based teaching and learning use the natural curiosity of children to learn in a holistic and authentic context. Holistic real-world phenomena provide the motivating starting point for learning, instead of traditional school subjects. The phenomena are studied as holistic entities, in their real context, and the information and skills related to them are studied by crossing the boundaries between subjects.”
