A few days ago, Andy Murray, a British tennis player (currently ranked as the no. 1 male player in the world), has been eliminated from Wimbledon after losing his final match to the American Sam Querrey. But it turns out that people were more interested about his post-game interview rather than being eliminated from the tournament.
If you listen closely to the post-game press conference you can hear a reporter asking: “Andy, Sam is the first U.S. player to reach a major semi-final since 2009. How would you describe the… ?”
Murray was carefully listening so he casually interfered: “Male player.”
After a short pause the reporter asked: “I beg your pardon?”
Murray repeated “Male player, right?”
In case you didn`t know, since 2009, Serena Williams has won 12 Grand Slam tournaments. TWELVE!!!
The reporter was trying to cover everything up with a casual laugh, but Murray wasn`t having any of it.
Soon after the video went viral and people started praising Murray for standing up against “casual sexism.” As expected, his mother is his greatest fan as she proudly tweeted “That’s my boy.”
