Homeless people have to cope with desperate situations while living on the streets. But if you are a homeless woman then things can get even worse because it’s a matter of dignity, cleanliness and comfort.
There are over 50.000 women living on the streets worldwide with no or limited access to tampons, pads and showers. Some are forced to steal or use paper towels, plastic bags, toilet paper or even clothing as a substitute for hygiene products.
Kailah Willcuts, 27, has been living on the streets for more than 8 years, getting her period is one of the most terrible and embarrassing things she has to face. Standing half naked, bleeding washing your clothes is a horrible experience.
Kailah is forced to use public park and bathrooms, Starbucks for hot water and washes blood-soaked socks in restaurant sinks.
