The 32-years-old singer is not afraid to open up and speak freely about her post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) on The Today Show.
She decided to take some time out and visit the Ali Forney Center in New York City as part of the #ShareKindness campaign, where she shared her “deepest and darkest secrets” with the homeless kids from the shelter. It was her first time speaking openly about the darker side of her life.
“I have a mental illness and I struggle with that mental illness every day. My own trauma in my own life has helped me to understand the trauma of others.”
Very few people know that the pop superstar is a rape survivor and still suffers the consequences. She also spoke about kindness and how true love from family and friends saved her life.
