Barack Obama, the former President of the U.S., released a tweet in response to the disgusting acts of violence in Charlottesville, Virginia and now it’s the most-liked tweet of all time.
The tweet was actually a very famous quote taken from the Long Walk to Freedom, Nelson Mandela`s autobiography.
Obama wrote: “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion…”
The violence in Charlottesville erupted after the clash between white supremacists and counterprotesters and as a result one woman, Heather Heyer, lost her life after a man slammed his car into the crown of counterprotesters. In this vehicular attack 19 other people were injured.
Once again Obama`s tweet resonated in that familiar “presidential voice” while the current President`s “so sad” tweet failed to inspire once again.
Obama`s tweet gathered 2.5 million likes as of Thursday morning and became the second most-liked tweet of all time. Ariana Grande`s tweet regarding the bombing at her Manchester concert was first with more than 2.7 million likes.
Since yesterday morning, Obama`s tweet had taken over Tweeter with more than 3.1 million likes, making it the most-liked tweet in internet history.
