Violence against women is still a very serious issue, not only it the U.S., but in the world in general. Unfortunately, many women still don`t feel safe in doing the most common things like walking alone at night or going into a parking garage after night falls. Also, many are forced to carry all sorts of protective objects like a warning whistle or a mace.
This is just one of the reasons why Anthony Gold and Yasmin Mustafa, the founders of the company ROAR decided to “arm” women with something that will give them a chance to fight off a violent sexual assault or any kind of physical attack. ROAR has created a device called “Athena” (named after the Greek goddess of strength and justice) to help them do just that.
The device can be worn as a necklace and with a 3 sec push of a button a very loud alarm goes off to scare the attacker and in the same time close friends and family are notified with a text message about your location along with an option to call 911 with one click only.
